THE RUN TINGZ CRU (G.TACTIX & LXP)

Biography:

Made up from two of the labels performing artists (G.Tactix & LXP), Blackout J.A. and a selection of the crew's guest vocalists, the Run Tingz Cru is an artist collective with a unique style of Reggae influenced Jungle and Drum n Bass. Taking inspiration from the old school Jungle sound of the 90's and bringing it up to date with the heavy bass lines and modern production techniques that are dominating the airwaves, the cru is already receiving wide spread support from leading playaz in the scene and has a host of live performances and an appearance on BBC Introducing under their belt.

G.Tactix: Immersed in the underground music scene the age of 16, G.Tactix has been tearing up dance floors at warehouse parties, club nights and festivals for over a decade. At 18 he was managing (what was at the time) the South West's leading underground dance music record store (Subway Records) and since then has been performing at events throughout the UK and across Europe.

LXP: Promoter and DJ by trade, LXP is responsible for (arguably) some of the best underground club nights in Bristol and potentially the UK. He has played at events across the UK and Europe and Parker's other label Anticlone Records & (the Run Tingz sista label) Jungle Clone Records are preparing to release further imprints.

Vocalists: See below

Their last single "Born Inna Babylon" (a remix of YT's 2009 reggae anthem) put the cru firmly on the map after going straight to number 2 on the Juno Download Drum n Bass singles chart on its first week of release (second only to Shy FX's Raver)! This, an impressive review in International DJ Magazine and coultless radio plays from the likes of KOOL FM and other underground stations nation wide has cemented their status as one of the next big thingz in UK Jungle music.

2011 is already shaping up to be a defining year for the label with Run Tingz 003 "Informer" (a collaboration of the Jamaican born Reggae star Blackout J.A. and the fast up and coming UK Hip Hop / Grime artist K*NERS) due for release at the beginning of Spring. Beyond that remixes of YT's Hustler and a host of other projects (including releases with Congo Natty legends Topcat and Lady MC) make the boys from the bad lands of Bristol one to watch out for!

YT

Biography:

Described as the "Slim Shady" of the reggae world, Mark "YT" Hull has gone from strength to strength since his debut album was released back in 2006 and "Straight Outta Britain" offered the world a glimpse at the reggae scene in the UK.

His 2nd album "Born Inna Babylon" proved to be an instant hit and a worthy follow-up to his 1st. Produced at various studios in the UK, Jamaica, Germany, Poland and Sweden with guest spots from veteran sound effects man Joe Lickshot, Daddy Freddy, R&B chanteuse Shola Ama and the regular Curtis Lynch Jnr crew, the album is bursting with energy and ideas. Musically, YT and the crew are saturated in the dancehall and sound system culture, the riddims drawing on vintage sounds for their inspiration with new heavyweight licks of classics such as Rumours and Police In Helicopter.

His tunes offer something for everyone, be that reggae, dancehall, roots or pop, and his lyrics are not only sublime but also in keeping with the positive message that reggae portrays. He is a versatile artist who has upset the stereo type of 'If it's not Jamaican, it's not Reggae'.

In 2010 YT ventured into uncharted territory with the Drum & Bass remix of "Dub Plate" on Necessary Mayhem by Benny Page (Digital Sound Boy) and the forth coming remixes of "Born Inna Babylon" on Run Tingz Recordings. Working closely with the up and coming label and The Run Tingz Cru, YT has licensed a remix of his reggae anthem "Hustler" and is currently in the studio working on further projects.
